New Late Night Pharmacy Opens In Nailsea

DOCTORS and staff at Nailsea Family Practice have welcomed the opening of a new late night pharmacy that will improve healthcare for its 11,400 patients in Nailsea and the surrounding areas.

In an official opening ceremony attended by patients, staff and representatives from the business community Dr Laura Paterson gave a welcoming address commenting "We are very excited about this new venture and are confident that it will provide the patients of Nailsea and the surrounding area with a great new service, especially with its extended opening hours. We look forward  to working closely with the team of pharmacists and staff. We hope patients will benefit from improved communication and closer integration between the health centre and pharmacy team.

It has been a big project re-organising the building and re-configuring the treatment rooms. It has taken a very long time to get to this stage and there is still a little way to go until it’s finished. It’s all looking  great and we are really pleased with the changes. Everyone has been very tolerant and we are grateful for the flexibility and resilience of the staff and patients and other people who use this building. At times it has  felt like a long slog, but I’m sure it will be worth it."

Pensioner Dennis Mansfield, of Station Road, was chosen to cut the red ribbon as he is the longest registered patient with the Tower House medical centre having first registered 71 years ago in 1941.

Although the new pharmacy was officially opened at midday it was making up and selling prescriptions from early morning, said pharmacist Jonathan Wood.

The pharmacy is open when the surgery is open and provides extended hours into the evenings and over weekends.

The Late Night Pharmacy is open to everyone, not just to patients of the Health Centre, and a pharmacist will always be available to offer advice on medicines and minor ailments.

Jonathan Wood, Pharmacy Manager at Tower House Pharmacy, said “The team and I are really excited about the opening of our new pharmacy, and we are looking forward to providing an excellent service to all.”

In addition to the usual prescription dispensing, other free services available at Tower House Late Night Pharmacy include a FREE prescription collection and delivery service, treatment for minor illnesses, medicine reviews with a pharmacist to help patients get the most from their medicines, and many more. Anyone can call in to see the friendly pharmacy team to discuss any health or medication concerns and a warm welcome awaits.

Tower House Late Night Pharmacy is open Monday to Saturday 7am to 10.30pm and on Sundays 10am to 5pm. The Pharmacy team can be contacted on 01275 855109 or email:
