DOCTORS and staff at Nailsea Family Practice have welcomed the opening of a new late night pharmacy that will improve healthcare for its 11,400 patients in Nailsea and the surrounding areas.
In an official opening ceremony attended by patients, staff and representatives from the business community Dr Laura Paterson gave a welcoming address commenting "We are very excited about this new venture and are confident that it will provide the patients of Nailsea and the surrounding area with a great new service, especially with its extended opening hours. We look forward to working closely with the team of pharmacists and staff. We hope patients will benefit from improved communication and closer integration between the health centre and pharmacy team.
It has been a big project re-organising the building and re-configuring the treatment rooms. It has taken a very long time to get to this stage and there is still a little way to go until it’s finished. It’s all looking great and we are really pleased with the changes. Everyone has been very tolerant and we are grateful for the flexibility and resilience of the staff and patients and other people who use this building. At times it has felt like a long slog, but I’m sure it will be worth it."
Pensioner Dennis Mansfield, of Station Road, was chosen to cut the red ribbon as he is the longest registered patient with the Tower House medical centre having first registered 71 years ago in 1941.
The pharmacy is open when the surgery is open and provides extended hours into the evenings and over weekends.
The Late Night Pharmacy is open to everyone, not just to patients of the Health Centre, and a pharmacist will always be available to offer advice on medicines and minor ailments.
Jonathan Wood, Pharmacy Manager at Tower House Pharmacy, said “The team and I are really excited about the opening of our new pharmacy, and we are looking forward to providing an excellent service to all.”
