South Kirkby Pharmacy highlights National Bug Busting Day

Staff at South Kirkby Pharmacy are highlighting the upcoming National Bug Busting Day by reminding parents to remain vigilant about head lice.

National Bug Busting Day, on 31 January, aims to encourage parents to check, find and “zap” all head lice in one fell swoop, preventing any further contagion.

Kay Eaton, manager at South Kirkby Pharmacy, said: “It’s really important for parents with school-age children to be aware of the risk of head lice. They are extremely contagious and, quite often, will go unnoticed and undetected for at least a month.

“We offer a range of products for head lice prevention and treatment, and can advise on how best to use them to eradicate the lice and eggs. A coordinated combing effort is a great way to break the head lice cycle, so we hope lots of families will join in.”

National Bug Busting Day was set up by registered charity Community Hygiene Concern CHC, who seek to protect people, particularly children and pets, from parasites found in the UK.
