A Chester based pharmacy operator is inviting local businesses to get their cycle shorts on and help raise money for Make-a-Wish Foundation UK.
Community Pharmacies has recently announced that Make-A-Wish which grants magical wishes to children and young people with life-threatening conditions, is its nominated charity of the year for 2014.
As its first fundraising event, a cycle-relay challenge will take place at David Lloyd’s Leisure Club at Cheshire Oaks on Sunday 4 May from 12.30-6.30pm. Teams of four from each participating business will take it in turns to cycle over a 6-hour period in the gym’s spinning studio.
Prizes will be awarded to the team and also the individual who cycles the furthest over the 6 hours. The event will give opportunities for informal networking as well as promoting health and well-being within organisations.
Andrew Murray, Community Pharmacies’ Founder and Managing Director, said: “We’re really excited about this event and are keen to get more businesses involved! Although it’s going to be hard work, it’s also going to be a really fun day, and it’s for a fantastic cause. Our thanks go to David Lloyd’s Leisure Club for making it possible.
“We’re delighted that this will be our first Make-A-Wish Foundation event. It’s a really special charity and it’s great that over the next year we can contribute to making more children’s dreams coming true.”
Businesses not wishing to take part in the fundraiser are still invited to donate prizes for the raffle and to make individual donations.
Businesses wanting to enter a team will need to pay a £40 entry fee (£10 per person, including a free T-shirt) through the Just Giving Page. The closing date for entries is 11 April 2014.
