Deputy Mayor Opens Congleton Pharmacy

A brand new pharmacy in Congleton has now opened its doors to the local community.

Deputy Mayor of Congleton, Denis Murphy, was on hand last week to cut the ribbon at the official opening of Congleton Pharmacy, which is located on West Street.

In his ribbon cutting speech Denis said: “I am delighted to have been asked to cut the ribbon today and the addition of a pharmacy at the surgery will be a significant addition to the services available and will be welcomed by patients.”

The pharmacy, a new venture from North West-based firm Community Pharmacies (UK) Ltd, will operate an integrated service alongside the Readesmoor Medical Group Practice.

Pharmacy Manager, Taj Grewal said: “It’s a really exciting time for all of us here at the pharmacy and we’re delighted to have finally opened our doors to the community. A lot of hard work has gone in to making our opening a reality and it was great to have the Deputy Mayor agree to come down to help us officially mark our opening. We’re really looking forward to playing our part in the local community and look forward to welcoming new patients through our doors.”

The opening marks the latest Community Pharmacies (UK) Ltd venture, with partnership between GPs and the pharmacy staff helping to improve both the cohesion between teams and patient service.

Andrew Murray, Managing Director of Community Pharmacies (UK) Ltd, said: “Our aim is to be the pharmacy of choice for the local community and the only way to achieve that is to ensure that we deliver the best possible service to our patients. We are thrilled to have opened up a pharmacy in Congleton and very pleased to have Taj and her team on board.  We are sure that the new pharmacy will be warmly welcomed by local residents and we look forward to being an active part of the community.”

Congleton Pharmacy is open Monday to Saturdays 7am to 10:30pm, and 12pm to 7pm on Sundays. Further information can be found by visiting or contacting 01260 277 149.
