Exam success for Rachael Pidduck
(Posted on 08/07/13)
Congratulations to Medicines Counter Assistant (MCA) Rachael Pidduck, who recently passed her National Pharmaceutical Association MCA training with flying colours. Rachael has been a friendly face at the medicines counter since we opened in August 2012, providing clear advice and making sure our customers get the medicines that they need.
Training is tremendously important at Crewkerne Pharmacy, and every member of our staff team is constantly reviewing and updating their knowledge. Medicines Counter Assistants are usually the first person that patients meet when they enter the pharmacy, so they need to have great communication skills and a formidable knowledge of over-the-counter medicines.
MCAs also listen carefully to the many queries that the pharmacy receives every day, and make sure that anyone they can't help personally is passed onto an appropriate member of staff. This is more demanding than it might sound - we've been asked all sorts of things, from how to arrange a community ambulance to where you can get an ironing board fixed!
